請伸出援手 救救緬甸災民 香江救災的熱情，整個沸騰起來了。靈鷲山佛教教團於６月２日下午２：００在香港灣仔「靈鷲山香港佛學會」舉行記者會，由自５月８日即進入緬甸賑災至５月２５日才返回台灣的性月法師，在記者會中說明靈鷲山實地救災的情況，以及當地災民目前的窘困。
台灣靈鷲山佛教教團所提出的第二階段賑災計劃已獲緬甸相關方面通過，成為第一個可在緬甸開鑿水井的外國團體。其中孤兒院計劃方面，預計提供2,000位孤兒到成年的教養費用，並由聯合國兒服基金會及當地慈善博愛會共同協助。乾淨飲水鑿井計劃部分，第一期預計開鑿100個水井，每個水井700美金(約5500 港幣，含兩個月汽油)，從伊落瓦底江省伯哥利定位100個位置，聯合國糧食局組織將協同勘查，預計共開鑿2100個水井。
靈鷲山除在記者會上播放運送物資給災民及進行醫療的現場照片外，性月法師並表示，緬甸災民才從風災、水患中掙扎求生，六月又將面臨雨季的威脅。在缺乏醫療物資，賑災分秒必爭的情況下，再度淪入傳染病爆發的恐懼中。靈鷲山教團呼籲國際社會發揮世界公民的大愛關懷，即時伸出援手協助百萬緬甸災民度過難關，為生還者重建家園，在緬甸風災和四川地震這兩場世紀災難中，同等伸出可貴的人道援手！

Myanmar has agreed to allow all aid workers to approach the disasters area. Than Shwe previously refused to accept foreign aid workers to stage for a full- scale effrot after Cyclone Nargis hit three weeks ago causing 133,000 dead or missing. Source:
